The third edition of the EERIA Summer School has successfully concluded in Ohrid, North Macedonia, once again bringing together insurance professionals, regulators, academics, researchers, and industry experts for an intensive week of learning, discussion, and international collaboration.

This year's Summer School welcomed participants from 14 countries and lecturers representing 12 countries, creating a truly international academic environment where diverse perspectives and experiences came together to explore the future of insurance.

The programme addressed many of the most significant challenges facing the insurance sector today. Participants attended lectures delivered by internationally recognised experts on topics including insurance business models, regulation and supervision, Solvency II, corporate governance, insurance distribution, sustainability, artificial intelligence, cyber risk, digital transformation, the protection gap, and empirical insurance research. Combining academic research with practical experience, each session encouraged active discussion and the exchange of ideas across countries, institutions, and sectors.

One of the highlights of the programme was the panel discussion on Digital Transformation in Distribution Channels and the Impact of AI, where experts from the insurance industry explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping customer interactions, distribution models, and the future of insurance services.

The EERIA Summer School is more than a series of lectures. It is a platform where science meets practice, enabling participants to discuss current challenges with leading academics, regulators, and industry practitioners while building relationships that often develop into long-term professional and research collaborations.

The academic programme was complemented by a rich social agenda that encouraged informal networking and cultural exchange. Participants enjoyed a networking evening by the shores of Lake Ohrid, a guided tour of the UNESCO-listed old town, and a boat trip across the lake to the historic Monastery of Saint Naum, located near the Albanian border. Throughout the week, they also experienced the renowned hospitality of Ohrid and the rich culinary traditions of North Macedonia, making the Summer School not only an educational experience but also a memorable cultural one.

The success of the EERIA Summer School 2026 was made possible by the commitment of our outstanding lecturers, engaged participants, dedicated partners, and generous supporters. Their enthusiasm, openness, and willingness to share knowledge created an inspiring atmosphere that reflects the values of the EERIA community.
